Last fight and we're off!

Wowie! It is the last post for Internet Technology for Language subject. How time flies so fast, my dear readers.

You're now have equipped all of my knowledge for the past 14 weeks and I can't express how lucky I am to be with you. You've successfully graduated as a brilliant student! 👏👏👏

For this last post, I just want to say that my groupmates and I had done with our courseware. It took so much effort, consideration, determination and time to finish it. Not to mention that there were so many assignments overlapping on each other, making us struggle in everything to the fullest.

In our last class with Mdm Azida, our lecturer, we needed to take part of the quiz regarding all the assessments that we've already learnt before. As I looked on each questions, I remembered back all the times I've spent learning with my classmates. It was an enjoyable experience, I must say. We learnt so many things within this one semester.

I truly am grateful to learn everything about this subject with madam. I just wish that in the near future, I can equip all of these knowledge and use it for great purpose while committing myself to the society.

I want to express my gratitude to her not only succeed in teaching us, but also for her dedication in her field of work. I also would like thank my groupmates that worked hard together with me to get through all the assignments. Thank you to all readers for all the supports.

That's all. Hasta la vista, everyone!

Work in progress~

Everyone work hard with the courseware, same goes to our group. Fight, fight, fight! 💪💪💪

We are mainly focusing on preposition of place for our courseware and we chose army-ish theme. We want to make it exciting so anyone can use our teaching tool.

The objectives that we want to focus on is the learner’s ability to use preposition and its phrases in sentence as well as letting them recognizing the object placement. We need include a lesson and two practices inside it. Who would have guess that technology and Internet can actually teach anyone about something.

It is not easy to maintain the teaching tool to make it appealing and interesting. We need to consider the learner’s interest and how to grab their attention when they first use our courseware. Our lecturer had taught us in the class about proper steps to create useful courseware. We will give our best shot for it so please, wish us luck!

Till next time, fella!

SMARTBUILDER is Bob the builder!

Hello and a very good day to all readers! This is the 12th posts that I made for this my blog site. And it is the last assessment we get from our beloved lecturer. We need to make a courseware using a tool called SMARTBUILDER.

To be precise, courseware is an educational software meanwhile Smartbuilder is the fastest e-learning authoring tool for creating serious e-learning including scenarios, gamification, branching, assessments and more.

Our lecturer taught us on how to use this software in her class. After a long session of lecturing from our lecturer, we were given a chance to explore it on our own. It was not an easy task to do but it was also not that hard either. The features that the software served to us was pretty much user-friendly. There were different commands that we needed to learn. We could also put a background, used variety of shapes, pictures and such.

Nevertheless, this courseware is not a free tool. It gave us a free trial to use it and it is a must for us to get our hand on it.

It was an exciting experience and without further ado, my groupmates and I once again will make an interesting teaching tool, combining all of our creativity, knowledge and determination.

Toodles~

Instructional Design Theory : ASSURE

As I mentioned from the previous post, I will talk about one of the instructional design theory knows as ASSURE.

Our lecturer assigned every groups to come up with a poster and information regarding other instructional design theories. Hence, we’ve chosen ASSURE which stands for:

A – Analyze
S – State standards and objectives
S – Select strategies and materials
U – Utilize technology and media
R – Require learner’s participation
E – Evaluate and revise

Below is the poster that my groupmates and I have made 👇

ASSURE is an improved version of ADDIE which focus more about the learner’s objectives and needs. Other instructional design theories that seems related to teaching the leaners are:

-       - GAGNE 9 events
-       -  Dick and Carey
-       - Rapid Prototyping
-       - Guaranteed Learning
-       - ARCS Model

Eventhough there are tons of theories stated, but in the end it serves the same purpose which is to guide the learners using proper teaching aid. I hope that you may learn a few great things from these theories.

See you again on the next post!

Learn, learn and learn!

What a purrfect day to learn!

For today’s post, I will share my knowledge about Instructional Design.

It is “a systematic process that is employed to develop education and training programs in a consistent and reliable fashion” (Reiser, Dempsey, 2007). In a simpler word, we create a medium of leaning for the learners using the instructional theory. This topic is related to CALL, a Computer Assisted Language Learning.

There are several things that need to be considered when we want to create a teaching tool or aid. According to every different types of instructional design theories, we need to know what the learners need while they are leaning. We can’t just simply teach them without any proper basis or knowledge about them, right?

Next step is knowing what they will get by the end of their lesson. After that, we can start to create the materials suits to the learner’s needs and wants. Below is an infographic information about one of the instructional design that is commonly used by educators, which is named as ADDIE.

When you have suitable objectives to make teaching aid based on your learners, it is much easier to carry it out. On the next post, I will show you readers another example of instructional design theory. Till we meet again, fellow readers!

Is that our Explainer Video?!

Oh, hello again, my dear readers. As a promise that I made from the previous post, today I will share to you about my team's explainer video! 👏👏👏

Our class has been assigned by our lecturer to make one using our knowledge and creativity to make it interesting. And here’s our fruitful result!

To make it short, my teammates and I chose a title ‘Adopt, Don’t Shop’ as our explainer video. Why we chose that? We love animals and we want to save them! There are reasons why you should adopt the animals and not buying them. Go and watch the video for further explanation.
I guess that’s all for now. See you again!

Learning in Explainer Video

Hai and welcome back, everyone. As you may have noticed from the title above, we’re going to learn a bit about ‘What’s is Explainer Video?’

It is a term where you learn about new information throughout a video with some explaining and description in it in order to make the readers fully understand about the content.

So this week, my teammates and I are going to make one. I'm not going to spoil our title yet so please wait for my next post. Hehe.

Our lecturer asked us to create a script beforehand with proper draft as our guidance to make the video. She also encouraged us to watch some explainer videos in YouTube as references. She wanted every students in her class to acknowledge on how to make a good video with proper information and good visual presentation.

It is a good opportunity for us to be creative while teaching other people using the video. Meet you again on the next post!

Sharing my great and lame POWTOON video!

Let’s explore POWTOON!

Hello there again, fellow readers. Great timing. Come here and I will share to you about PowToon. Haha, I’m sorry that you always have to learn new term with me.

PowToon is creative tool application to design your animated slides presentation via Internet which is user-friendly and it is also free! Basically, it is another version of Microsoft PowerPoint but you can make a slide easier.

Not only that, you can also add few features such as moving character, objects and even changing the background.

Even though it sounds really good, but there are also some cons of it. Some of the features in the application are not free and you have to pay for it. Another disadvantage is when you use it for too long lots of things in slides, it tends to make the application laggy. Therefore, get yourself prepared in case you’re experiencing bad Internet connection.

I’ve included the link to the website so feel free to click it. Have a great day!

Creating powerful podcats? Okay!

The previous assessment that we learn in the class was about podcast. So today, Husna and I will create it since it is one of our main assessments given by our lecturer. She also taught us several things related to how to make good podcast. We’ve been taught to use audio recorder application, for example: Audacity and Bandlab, and a microphone but it is much easier if you can use to your phone record it.

Audacity is a downloaded application which is easy to use, meanwhile for Bandlab, it is entirely the same as Audacity but you will to find Internet to connect with Bandlab.

The next step is to make your own script. It is a guideline for you on what you want to talk about while recording the audio. Or else, you might feel lost and don't know what to do.

Last but not least is to find a quiet place. Why? Haha. You don’t want your audio to have bad quality sound, right? So, it is much preferable to go somewhere proper and start your audio recording. Make sure that the area you want to choose is sound dampening, or in another word sound proof! Without further ado, I wish you readers a good luck to make creative and wonderful podcast!

Colors and our lives

Welcome back. Great day isn’t it, dear readers? Today, I’ve experienced a wonderful moment whereby I listened to a talk show through a podcast. Before I explain further about the talk show, I will briefly explain to you readers about podcast.

Podcast is a combination words of IPod and broadcast. It is broadcasted via Internet so you can search any topic that you want to listen to. You can also download the audio for later use, which is super convenient. Aaanndd, leaners can use podcast for their own benefit. They can enhance their listening skills as well as pronunciation while they listening to the audio.

So, are you ready to know about the talk show? Hehe. The audio that I listened to is entitled ‘The Secret Lives of Color’ by Kassia St. Claire.

Here in the audio, she explained about how did all the colors in this world are made, what are the meaning behind them, the story behind each colors and much more. She started off with red color, a familiar color that is really well-known since it is universal color. She talked about how it actually influences our daily lives and such. Next color was purple. Back in past, it was known as a color for royalty. Only people in royalty family could wore such eye-catching color. She even talked about green color in which, according to her book, had kill two adults because that color derived from a toxic compound named copper arsenite.

After I listened to the audio, I realized that every colors that appear in front of us really affect our lives. Just imagine a world without any brilliant colors. Our lives would probably fill up with emptiness. Since everyone have their own favorite color, let’s all appreciate it and thank to those people who had created them in the past. Below is a link to the talk show.

Till we meet again!

Searching for a cat and communicating with it?

Aloha, everyone!

In this brand new episode, I will share my knowledge about Search engines and CMC. What are those, you say? Search engine is a tool that allows people to enter keywords and find information on websites contained in its database. It is like you want to search something in Google, you will mostly type the words that you want to search.

There are four types of search engine:
-          -  Database
-          - Web-Crawlers
-          - User Interface
-          -  Information Retrieval System

Let’s move on to our next topic which is CMC. CMC stands for Computer Mediated Communication. Never heard of it? It is a two-way communication whereby a learner can interact with other people through media. There are two types of CMC:

Asynchronous and Synchronous

Asynchronous is message that is not exchanged or replied immediately. Here is good example to represent about this term which is E-mail. You will receive mail a few days later after you’ve submitted it, correct? That is called as asynchronous.

Meanwhile…

Synchronous is a term when a person texts someone and they reply to him immediately. For instance, WhatsApp, Messenger, SMS and so on. You don’t have to wait for them to chat with you for a long time.

As we can see, technology helps everyone to gather information, idea or source. Not only that, it is also help to connect with different people from different places. I wish that all of us use the Internet and technology for a good purpose. Have a good time, readers! See ya.

Let's talk about Canva and CALL

Hello again, dear reader. How are you today? Feline good?

Today, I got myself a great and amazing information from the class. Oh, you want to know about it? Hehe. Have you ever heard about Canva? No? It’s fine, my fellow friend because right now, I will teach you a bit about this wonderful application. Canva is basically a tool for you to design your own picture, poster or whatsoever that you desire. I will show you one design that I created using this app. Beep boop beep boop.

Ta-daaa~ Isn’t it magnificent? Haha, just joking. It is a simple design and yet it looks wonderful. I really recommend this to anyone who wants to create some design using their creative imagination. Oh, I also provide the link to the website so everyone can click it on the spot. Have fun while using it!
                                                           https://www.canva.com/

Next information is about CALL. It’s not an action verb by the way. CALL is an acronym of Computer Assisted Language Learning. In other words, it represents computer technology that is used as a medium or tool to teach language learning. Hehe, great info right?
We learnt more about this term and to be honest, it is really useful for everyone when it comes to learn language. Wikipedia, CD-ROM, Microsoft and more are examples of CALL. With this great information, everyone can learn easier with the help from Internet and advanced technology nowadays. That’s all for now and stay tune!
